Leadership skills development programme

An online programme for current and aspiring leaders in the NHS, primary care, social care and the voluntary sector

About the programme

This programme provides an important development opportunity for people working in the NHS, primary care, social care and the voluntary sector to acquire the skills, tools and understanding they need to thrive in their current and future leadership roles.

Past participants have included practice managers, social prescribing link workers, care coordinators, receptions leads, managers of link worker teams and others from the NHS, voluntary sector and community services.

We are proud that 100% of participants have said they would recommend the programme to colleagues in similar roles to themselves.

It’s designed for people who want to develop the leadership skills to be able to support staff and/or volunteers in their team to achieve better outcomes. Participants will be able to take the learning back into their local organisations to support the resilience of others and to influence and make a difference to how things happen.

This will really help with our engagement with GPs and confidence in opening those conversations and establishing those relationships.

I got a lot out of talking through real life examples. It made me more open to talking through these things with colleagues and pre-planning for feedback and supervision.

What does the programme cover?

This programme covers five elements that will support the development of personal leadership skills:

  • Module 1: Unlocking your capabilities and potential through coaching

  • Module 2: What’s in it for me? Getting the best out of a mentoring relationship

  • Module 3: Raising the bar – Building a model of supervision that supports you and others

  • Module 4: Your impact and influence – The value of your contribution in meetings and MDTs

  • Module 5: Resilience - unlocking the power of purpose and developing a resilience toolkit

I enjoyed learning more about the difference between coaching and mentoring and how they may share core skills, but have unique traits to consider.
